Laap Hed

“Laap Hed” ( ลาบเห็ด ) is a salad with chopped mushrooms and fresh herbs, dressed with a mix of lime juice and fish sauce. It is seasoned with coarse chili powder and roasted rice powder. Depending on the recipe, the mushrooms are grilled before being chopped or fried in a chopped form.

A Laap Hed can be prepared completely vegan using soy sauce instead of fish sauce. There are also variations where ground meat is mixed with the mushrooms. Finally, “Laap Hed” can also refer to a salad where whole mushrooms are used and mixed with ground meat.
