Khao Soi Nam Naa

Noodle soup with minced meat

Khao Soi Nam Naa" ( ข้าวซอยน้ำหน้า ) is a soup with clear broth and rice noodles, served with a topping of minced meat, garlic, dried chilis and fermented soybeans. Depending on the recipe, the topping may also contain tomatoes and is then very similar to the dip Nam Prik Ong.

This soup is considered a typical dish of the Tai Leu and other ethnic minorities, who are indigenous to the north of Thailand as well as areas in southern China Yunnan, the Shan state in Myanmar and Laos. This is probably why the dish can also be found under the name “Khao Soi Lao” ( ข้าวซอยลาว ).
