“Gaeng Som Pak Tai Plaa” ( แกงส้มปักษ์ใต้ปลา ) is a southern Thai sour curry with fish. The curry is based on a paste made from tamarind, chilis and other ingredients. Often various vegetables are cooked in a Gaeng Som as well, such as lotus stems or taro stems, which are able to absorb a lot of liquid.
